I have been reading over this forum more and more after acquiring my 76 Highboy in 2019. My good buddy, a Chevy guy, had a Highboy come his way. He did some initial cleaning and polishing, then finishing off with a new set of wheels and tires. The truck was parked in his front yard, unseen by the world. I traded him the title of a 1976 Chevy SWB for the highboy. The Chevy was a frame off restoration so he was more than happy to trade. I’ve always loved the old Ford trucks and drive the Highboy regularly. I look forward to engaging with the community and hopefully being of some help. My truck has the original 300 straight 6, which I prefer. I’ve been asked if I’d entertain a larger, more powerful engine swap, and the response is always no. The straight 6 drives smooth and is easy on the fuel. If I need horsepower, I’ve got another truck that is more appropriate.
