1972 F100 decode
I am helping my neighbor in getting her deceased husband's truck ready for sale. I think this is a 72MY but would like to confirm this VIN - F10YKN87084.
What I think we have is a F100 2 wheel drive, 360, built in KC with a 2 barrel carb.
My basic parts list are hopefully easy to find, air, fuel, oil filters. Hope you can confirm this one for us, many thanks.
Bill
F10 = F100 4x2
Y = 360 2V
K = Kansas City
N87084 = Mar1972 production
But basic tune-up & maintenance items for a '72 360 don't require specialized look-up help; plugs, wires, cap, rotor, points, condenser, and filters are all really basic and nearly universal for Ford small V8s back then. Even brain-dead computerized parts lookup systems can find that stuff for you. Plug wire sets might be unique to that engine (and plug wires are always in bad shape on these old rigs, unless they're less than ~10 years old) and there might possibly a shorter or longer oil filter available than the bog-standard FL1/PH8A/51515, but the ignition tune-up parts will be "universal V8 Ford from the late 50's until ~1974".
There are only three fuel filters for that engine back then, and it'll be a whole lot easier to match which one you have visually than going through a Ford parts catalog.
I think there's the "car" type that threads into the carb -- probably not on your truck.
The inline steel can type between the fuel pump and the carb.
And the paper canister filter on the bottom of the fuel pump. Yours will probably be one of the latter.
If you need non-maintenance stuff, I can help with that.
