Updates that can only be installed at the dealership?

Yesterday the Ford mobile technician came back out to install a new plastic cover on the driver side power mirror. The power mirror had to be replaced yet again, this makes my third overall. I complained about the plastic cover easily popping off so they ordered a new one, had it painted, he stopped by to install it

I still have this ongoing issue with the heated seat not coming on with remote start. The dealer suggested I call Ford and after utilizing the useless AI chat I was transferred to a human chat which was equally as useless and then I was told to call Ford's remote tech service department. I explained the problem to the girl and I said this happened in the past after an OTA update to which she replied your truck's last OTA update was 6 months ago and I said well that would make sense because I don't use the heated seats until it gets cold out and your update would have been when it was warm outside

She gave me a code to give to my local Ford dealer which would allow the mobile tech to access a higher level of support, according to her. So I called the dealer back, gave them the super special code, the girl said she would include it on my work order, but when the technician arrived yesterday he knew nothing about it which was not surprising so he said I will call the service girl and find out what's going on

He was here for about an hour and at the end he said I updated a few things but there are still two other updates that cannot be performed in the field, you have to take it in. I did not get into the details of it but now I'm curious what updates can only be done at the dealership. He did say he has no idea if the updates he did would affect the heated seats

The large ones. Unless their mobile service guy is running a starlink the WiFi at the shop is probably significantly better than the hotspot he’s using. So would take less time. Also if something goes sideways and a module gets bricked it’s already at the shop, if not depending on which module goes down it could be a lawn ornament until someone dispatches a tow truck.
