Parts Timeline

How long does it usually take to get an online part order ready from the dealer? I ordered a 2wd valence for the front bumper on Saturday. I thought they had the part in stock, but when I called they said it wasn't ready. Anyone had an experience with this?

There's no set time frame. Unfortunately, you'll get it when you get it. I had to order a wheel cover for my truck and I was told it would be in the next day. Well, what they should have said was the next day of the next week. And the thing is, they didn't even know it was there til I went up there and started questioning them about it. If I would have waited for them to call, who knows.... they don't get in a rush.

Your local dealer may not have it in stock - inventory costs money so they less they keep on hand the more money they keep in their pockets.

What that means for YOU is that they have to order it from somewhere that DOES have it, another dealer or a warehouse. And they don't ship like Amazon, they have a list of orders to fill and there might be 10 people who work at that warehouse so they'll ship it when it comes to their list. Then it'll come UPS or FedEx (or LTL if it's big), which can take upwards of 10 business days. Then it's got to be received and checked in, and THEN someone has to be told to call customers to let them know their parts are in, which can take days because no one wants to make a phonecall.

What has worked best for me in the past is to get in touch with someone who knows their system, see if they can say when it SHOULD ship, and call a week after that for any updates. They should be able to give you a rough estimate when it will be in at that point.
