Hello all,
my name is Matt and I’m new to this forum. I’ve recently acquired a new “shop truck”, and I’m getting ready for a full build on it. It’s a 1955 F350 flatbed, barn find. Ive recently retired and have started a metal fabrication business or keep me out of trouble. I plan on using this truck as a rolling business card of sorts, as I’m shifting the focus of what I do to automotive.
looking forward to learning from y’all, and sharing my progress on this. Thanks again for having me.
Welcome to FTE. That appears to be one nice unmolested original truck. Tell us about power. Running, driving? Modification plans for the truck? Do you know the history of the truck? IMO, the F.350 is the ideal size truck of this vintage.
Hey Ray,
It came with a Y block, most likely a 292. A friend bought this, at a farm auction, for the hood badges, that are hard to find? The truck is pretty rough, but perfect for what I’m doing. The plan is to build a complete chassis and suspension (possibly air ride) and a healthy modern V8. I already had a 55 GM chassis with M2 IFS, a ford 8.8 with discs and nice service bed, so I’m toying with this look. Nothing is permanent at this point… I pulled the cab and placed everything in one heap to see how it looked.
The plan is to have a nice, daily driver, that I can cruise, take to shows and drum up fabrication business. I like how it’s looking so far.
