Compatible trans fluid
Compatible trans fluid
A couple of weeks ago when it was really cold outside I was pulling out of my driveway and I heard a crunching noise which I thought was just ice but when I got to the corner I heard a pump whine for a couple of seconds and then the transmission crunched as it downshifted to first gear.
Today as I was pulling into a parking lot I hit the gas, the RPMs came up, the truck did not move for a couple of seconds and then bam, the transmission engaged. I'm guessing it's low on fluid which is odd because it's never been opened up and it's never leaked but I cannot find Motorcraft ulvf fluid in my area. Is anything else compatible?

MERCON ULV is a formulation, as such, any brand of MERCON ULV is compatible, doesn't have to be Motorcraft.
I used Valvoline MERCON ULV when I did the new pan on mine.
But, if your truck has no obvious signs of trans fluid leaks, then very likely some other issue.
I would check the level first before buying any fluid or adding any.

Yes, I am... Also in the transfer case and diffs... Seems to have gained about 0.5 to 1.0MPG & makes it up hills usually 1 gear higher, meaning 9th instead of 8th and so on...
