I do like my 385 series 429, except the fuddy duddy power-steering pump bracketry.
I just did attempt to shim the bracket for the "V" groove belt system to bring the pump pulley into alignment with the crank pulley.
No joy yet, and I am convinced, I'm gonna have to remove and modify, as I've concluded it is Tweaked. Tightening makes it worse.
Good luck on the brackets you are working on.
What are the brackets for ?
The smaller one is for the FPR. I made one a few years ago but it was flimsy as I didn't use thick enough metal so I solved that issue. The other one is for the proportioning valve that's suppose to be attached to the top of the steering box. It wasn't an issue but I thought it would look a little better if it wasn't just floating out in space with no support. As a former aircraft mechanic....I like things buttoned up. I might be a little OCD. LOL
Proportioning valve just hanging out. I fabbed up a bracket to secure it. Just need to procure some bolts long enough to do the job. ACE hardware here I come. There was a plastic bodied fuel filter down there. Don't want any potential fire hazards so it's gone.
Quick pic of my driveway. Hard to believe that millions of folks across the U.S are in the deep freeze. You'd never know it here. It's not sunny ..but it is 52 degrees On our way to breaking a record...the weather people say it's going to top out at 58.😎😎 Kinda crazy for January.

Just a bracket for FPR when I use an Edelbrock carb. The funny (odd) offset was just to use a handy scrap to clear a large vac fitting. I use longer front studs, regular nuts hold carb on, then set the bracket on, use two more nuts. !" wide x 1/8" steel, maybe 3/16"?
On the Holley, I mount similarly using two passenger side studs instead, FPR over pass valve cover. Metal fuel filter.
Are you going to change your handle to 79F150460 now? I will be building a very mild 429 to go in my '75 Highboy. I can't wait to drive it, but I'm going to take my time building it.

I've had some thoughts on changing my handle as I m aware it's not accurate but haven't come up with anything that I like. I no longer have the 79.
