Heater Fan Squeels
Can I access the fan and put a drop of oil on the bearings?
Or is this a 1970 fix that won't work on 2018 tech?
You could also see how much a replacement assembly is from RockAuto. By the time you go to the work of getting the assembly out you may decide it's just easier to install a new one. That may also give you an idea how much would be involved in removing the squirrel cage to get to the other bushing. I'd highly recommend going with SuperLube Silicone Oil to if you decide to try to prolong the life of you fan. I have a inducer fan in my furnace that was squealing and is no longer available. I tried all sorts of different substances over a 2 year period to get that to quiet down (silicone spray, PB Blaster, 3-in-1 oil, HD30 engine oil, transmission fluid, TQ Bearing Oil, and probably a few others that I'm forgetting. I sprayed out the brass oilite bearings between each application. They all would last maybe up to 1 month. Until I tried the Super Lube. It's been silent for a winter and a half now.
