Recruiters are supposed to BS
Do you think for a minute that if they did not,
they would ever make their quota
and yes they have a quota

whatever a recruiter tells you, unless you got it in writing, don't mean jack.
the military is good for some people though.

The disadvantage of a short enlistment is the required active reserve time. With the way things are, you WILL be deployed at some time during your reserve period, and usually at a short notice. Tough to keep a small business when you get shipped out with-out a decent lead time.
Now if you sign the dotted line for a full 4 year enlistment, you know your schedule, 100% Army, so nothing catches you by surprise. Another advantage is by signing up for a longer enlistment, you more apt to get more and better training.
