Properly Grounded?

I have an '83 F150 300 CID. What I have for a ground is coming from the neg post the cable runs right to the starter motor, however the wire has a 1 inch area of bare wire which is held to the frame with a very flimsy looking bracket (which I had to refabricate cause the original rotted). Is this realy the stock ground???

Yeah. I just got two cables the same length as the one combined, and bolted one to the frame, then the battery, and lastly, one from the frame over to the starter. Works good and fixed my starting problems.

It is!?! I thought ground cables were connected to the frame a little better than that.

Thanks.
