Hello,
I just got a 2019 Ford F-250 Lariat with a 6.7 Powerstroke diesel engine. I was looking at filters and the OEM motorcraft filters are crazy expensive. Is there a good alternate to go with that is compatible with motorcraft? Thanks
Filters aren't a good place to try to save a buck. there are lots of quality oil filters on the market but for everything else I use Motorcraft. you have a 25k engine, take care of it the best you can.
The issue with using cheaper alternatives is that most don't meet the standards of the OEM Motorcraft stuff.
If you search a little you can find better pricing on Motorcraft, just make sure they are genuine.
The only off brand, cheap as possible filter I buy is the cabin air filter. I buy them cheap and change every couple months.
For all the filters that matter, (fuel, oil, air) it's all Motorcraft. Buy them in bulk from Dieselfiltersonline and qualify for free shipping that way.
Avoid Amazon and Ebay like the plague! Too many counterfeit products across all brands. Buy only from a reputable store.
Stick with OEM on everything also stick with recommended service intervals per the owners manual. Not sure if this is your first diesel but they do require a fair amount of maintenance.
Being this truck is used I would change oil and filter, fuel filters (2), air filter. Then in the not so distant future change trans fluid, differential fluid and coolant and probably brake fluid. This way you have a record of when it was done since I assume you do not know when these services had been done in the past.
My son bought a used 2015 6.7 with 130k. We went through the list above and have got everything serviced now. It was a bit of a cost but if you can do it yourself you will save a lot of money.

Expensive is subjective. I prefer better/more filtration for the dollar spent. I've been running the
, $22/each, 6 pack knocks them down to $20/each. Might start an oil filter war but these filter are better than the Motorcraft according to all my research from various sources (feel free to change my mind). I'm not anti-OEM but there are better products, sometimes they cost the same, sometimes they cost more.
usually order a case of 12 oil filters, and 6 to 8 fuel filters @ a time, couple of barrels, And my favorite DEF. As much as I hate Amazon, it's just a couple clicks and move on.
Oil is cheap, filters are cheap, as somebody pointed out earlier, a $25,000 engine isn't cheapt, or a $15,000 cp4 replacement. Every oil 7,500, and fuel every 15K.
Best price I have found on genuine Ford fuel filters so far is actually Walmart.com.
My wife is a Walmart associate, it let me use her discount on it as well.
I ordered a few weeks back for $60 before discounts.
Check RockAuto, they typically have good prices and genuine motorcraft filters.
Rock auto is typically my go to as well. If you watch the point of origin on the products you can bundle shipping on multiple parts and keep it pretty reasonable.
Motorcraft is not going to be a bad option but Donaldson, Fleetguard and Baldwin all make a good product as well.
