I had one of those cheapy FM modulators from Best Buy for my MP3 player and it sucked because you always had to fiddle with it to keep it tuned to a clear portion of the radio band.

had to fm modulate both
circuit city did the install and it came out great
xm mod stronger than sirius mod so i have to turn off xm to listen to sirius
for sat button to work you need a $399 dealer installed tuner and the display sucks not worth it
As far as bleed over from FM stations, I've had none. But I also haven't been on any road trips yet. Locally I've got it set at 87.9, but all setting worked without any bleeding. The two noticeable things about being modulated: There is some hiss when there is a quiet moment and you've got it cranked. Even with the input level maxed on the Commander, I don't get qiute the volume as I do on CD's or FM. Plenty loud enough though!

I added the XM commander to the Audiophile system in my '04. Had to go the modulated route, as direct connect is not yet possible with this head unit. The display fits nicely in the ashtray
Was it a big deal?
How did you afix the face plate in the ashtray (which, BTW looks VERY cool)?
Can you still close the ashtray(which would be even cooler)?
Where did you put the received itself?
Do you have a sun roof (the antenne instructions say it must be 6" from any glass)? If so, where and how did you run the line for the antenne?
Thanks for all you help on this.
