took the fan out tested the plug under hood has 12.4v
then tested fan with some jumpers and it turned on you can hear that its going south soon, doesnt spin freely like the new one. feels like its grabbing.
now figured out a problem now that old fan is out and still works but only on high. so is it the resistor?
and what controls the flap behind the blower fan? just want to see what is defrost and vents. when it opens up.
good times thanks

Reason: spilled koolaid
The springs (resistors) look okay but you need to test the thermal limiter
So,
Test the thermal limiter
The rocket looking thing with the green point
Those burn out and you only get high speed after that
If your motor does not turn freely, that will melt the switch
The thermal limiter just needs to be zero ohms and when they burn, they go open circuit
Radio Shack sells them for 10 bucks or so
Use your ohmmeter
Better replace the melted plug or it will possibly burn up the switch again and again
its gone, i have each connetor electrical taped, then taped all 4 together replaced the switch 3 times this way, but ordered a new harness so will replace tom. ill post a pic i know ill get laughed at.

On my '98 Strayhound it turned out to be the damnable Flapper Panel Door I modified/fixed with a manual control was preventing heat in the winter. The controlling motor uses only a few strands of wire to engage the Flapper door so a new part would've been a non starter for me.
