Good morning guys.

About 13 degrees out there right now. No idea about the wind. The boys are up and walking around. Duke down in the back corner of the pen barking at something in the back lot and Bear the usual 2 or 3 steps behind him backing him up. Lucky is just walking the fence prior to starting his shift this morning. I broke my broom sweeping off the shed porch and deck/patio in front of it when I wen out yesterday morning. They were finished melting/drying off when I went out in the afternoon and the boys had been stretched out/sleeping on them all afternoon in the sun. Got an idea for opening up the doorway on one side of the doghouse later today. Not sure, without crawling up on the front porch, if it'll work or not. Might make it easier for Duke to get inside to sleep. Then again I might cut out the door, frame up that one (maybe two) edges and find out Duke keeps sleeping out in the weather because of that collar.

Gotta get out there this morning before church and take some pictures to send to the vet. She said it still looked good yesterday. Had snow on it because he keeps sitting down/cowering down every time I get closed to him. That temp gun makes it easy to check the surface temp of his stubby shaved tail section. Still in the 70's on the thick part and in the mid 40's on the stitched up section yesterday morning. Should be similar this morning as the temps are similar. I think tomorrow it's supposed to be colder and then warm up for a couple days in the middle of the week

Church this morning and then some time outside to see if I can open up that doorway a little bit for Duke.

Have a great day.

Good morning guys.

I saw 12 F on the heat pump panel this morning. Not supposed to get above freezing today but should be sunny all day. The next two days are supposed to be in the 50's. We'll see. Daytime highs in the 40's for the rest of week he said, after today. Pretty good rain storm on Saturday into Sunday. Between the daytime highs and the rain all the snow/ice should be gone by next week.

All three of the boys are outside. Two laying in the dirt and one standing around looking at stuff. I just shake my head and walk away from the window. The pics I sent to the vet yesterday morning got a reply that it was still looking good.. About a week till we go back, again, to get the stitches removed.

Today needs to be the day I get the generator back in the garage. Hopefully it won't still be frozen to the ground after some sun this afternoon.

No plans to go anywhere today. I'm thinking about a trip to Tractor Supply tomorrow to pick up a yellow 5 gallon "can" for diesel and a new broom for the shed/doghouse porches/decks. Who knows, it might snow again this winter.

Have a great day.

Good morning guys.

Supposed to be sunny and up to 57 degrees today. I did notice some water puddles in the driveway yesterday when I went out to get the mail. Even at barely over freezing temps it did some melting. The boys enjoyed the sun and piled up (at different times of the day) on all the wood surfaces provided by the porches and decks in the dog pen. Even the snow/ice got some use yesterday.

The vet finally got around to texting me back after I sent a second set of pictures of Duke's tail to her. No comments about it's appearance but she asked about his medicine/dosage and I texted back what the instructions were (which is what I've been doing every day.). The big boy actually got in the far side of the doghouse last night. First time I've seen him inside and looking out since the surgery last week.

Couple of the regular CT scans today. Chest and abdomen. Appointment next week to go over the results.

Have a great day.

Good morning guys.

Cloudy and dark this morning. Small chance of rain the weather man said. Oh well. Maybe we'll get the sun later today. About 49 degrees out there right now in spite of no sunshine to warm stuff up. We saw 62 degrees on the car thermometer yesterday on the way back from the CT scans. Five days or so till the results show up in the system.

Big Duke was in the doghouse this morning when I got up. Proves he can get in/out even with that collar on him if he really wants to get in. The vet said the pics yesterday morning still looked good. I'll be taking some more pictures if a bit when I go out to visit with the boys. Pills in pieces of hot dog buns in the morning and a pill in the canned dogfood in the afternoon. The boys are going to be real disappointed when Duke's pills are gone. I've got a couple days of hot dog buns left and a couple cases of canned food, so the hot dog buns will run out first. Might have to get some more at the store. Got part of a loaf of sourdough bread that I'm doing my best to finish up before my wife says something about giving it to the boys. It's probably not the right texture to stuff pills in anyway.

Looks like we're into a week or more of days in the 40's, 50's and some 60's. We'll take it. Hopefully that big rainstorm they're predicting for Sunday will wash all that darn salt off the roads and into the ditches. The sides of the roads are white.

Tried to take the RAV4 through the carwash yesterday on the way back to the house and there was such a long line we turned around and headed home. Maybe this afternoon.

Have a great day.

Good morning guys, and happy Hump Day! Its the last day of work for me. After I get off (around 3:30) I'll need to jet over to my parents and grab my Honda 2000. Hopefully it fires up - we'll need it this weekend for the trip. All my bags are packed, I'm also headed out to pick up a few cases of beer. Last year, amongst 4 guys over about 4 days, we finished around 220 beers. Each person's responsible for bringing a few cases.

I'll update you guys when I'm able as the trip goes on. Perhaps I'll take coherent pictures this time and can post a nice collection here for you all to see!

Good morning guys.

About 31 degrees outside this morning. It was still around 40 when we went to bed last night around 10 PM. Supposed to be sunny and around 45 for a high the next two days. It did get sunny later in the morning yesterday and then clouded up again and then got sunny again before dark. Got more melting done yesterday. Only place we have snow/ice now is in the shade of the house on the north side. The deck and steps are clear now but the grass and patio are still covered. The next couple days might see that gone.

Took my wife to her doctor's appt. yesterday. She said the news was good but she's less than impressed with her PA. My wife had to ask about going over her recent blood test results and the reply was something like, "Oh yeah, I meant to talk to you about that."

My Kindle when crazy yesterday. I opened up to read in the waiting room only to see funny little squares where the book cover art should be when looking at my "library." When I touched the screen to go back to the book I'd been reading (Sdifi short stories by Frederic Brown from back in the 50's/early 60's) I got a pop up that said it had been removed from my Kindle. got to checking and all my "books" have been removed from my Kindle. Went through the reset/troubleshooting procedures wtih no success. Last step is a factory reset and reloading the books. I think I'll just reload a few at a time instead of everything I had on there.

Another trip to the vet. this morning with Duke. Sent her the pics from yesterday morning and she's concerned about how it looks (I didn't like it either) Looks like it may be trying to open up some on one side. We've got to have him down there by 0800 hrs. this morning. I just got back in the house from getting him into the new side of the pen and shutting the gat to keep him away from the food (no breakfast) before we take him in. He was not happy about being cut off from his buddies again. We'll have to go back and get him sometime this afternoon.

About time to get the coffee going and get my wife up.

Have a great day.

Good morning guys.

Supposed to be sunny again today. Yesterday we had mostly sun with some clouds blowing past every now and then. Still should be around 45 degrees today. Tomorrow will be around 57 degrees they say and then a 10 degree drop for Sunday with the rain most of the day and evening. Good. Should clean the roads up a good bit.

Got Duke back around 4 PM. More skin removed from the tail and more stiches added. No excess skin hanging out behind the bone now. She also gave him a "laser treatment" that is supposed to improve blood circulation. He sure was ready to come home. That's his 3rd all day stay in the last couple of weeks. No charge yesterday. Also got some different antibiotics and more of the pain pills. Another appt. Monday afternoon for a check up and another laser treatment. Another 10 days of that inflated ring around his neck. I'm glad he's such a good natured boy.

I still need to get a valentine card for my wife. I never go anywhere except with her. I think I may offer to go get pizza for lunch today and stop by a store or two to see what I can find in the way of cards. Maybe some flowers. She's sick (sinus drainage, coughing, sore throat, etc.

Have a great day.

A nice 12 degrees up here to start the day. Shoveled about 3 inches of the white stuff off the walk yesterday. Have not had a Winter like this in a while... of course 22 of the last 26 Winters were in Virginia.

Good morning guys.

Looks to be a sunny start to the day. Supposed to get into the mid to high 50's today. Cloudy before dark and rain about all day tomorrow. They're predicting 60's for Tuesday through Friday next week. This morning they said it got up to around 44 degrees yesterday. I never saw it above 37 or 38 any time I looked at the temperature.

Duke was pretty much "normal" yesterday other than being spooky about getting near me when I was on the shed porch. He figures the leash means something bad is about to happen and he knows the leash is in the shed (with the food, biscuits, etc.) The "bad" outweighs the "good" in his recent memory. Got another trip scheduled for the laser treatment on his tail stub on Monday afternoon and then we'll make another one for later in the week. And then, hopefully we'll make one for getting the stitches out early the next week and Duke won't have to make another trip to the vet till August or early September

Got a couple things to get done today before the rain. Sure glad to have that wheel barrow to move that stuff around.

Got the car washed (drive through) yesterday on the way to the grocery store and the local Papa John's Pizza place. Tried out that new pan pizza with an order of bread sticks added to it. All gone now between the four of us it didn't last long. Good deal, too. Between the "Papa Dough" credits and what was left on an old gift card I only paid seven dollars and change for lunch. Too good of a deal to pass up.

George, spring is on it's way down here. It'll get up there at some point.

Evan, be careful on the trip down there and back. Every time I get out on the road these days I'm amazed at how people drive. Unconscious or uncaring behind the wheel. I was in the slow lane on Rt. 288 yesterday on the way to the pizza place. Just keeping up with traffic, in the slow lane. People coming up behind me and passing me. People whizzing by in the fast lane and going on down the road. I looked at the speedometer and saw I was doing just over 80 mph in the slow lane (speed limit is 65 mph). The people coming up behind me (and a couple cars in front of me also doing about 82 mph) where going a little faster than us. The people whizzing by that were just driving in the fast lane had to be 90 or more. Pick up trucks, SUVs, small cars, they don't seem to realize driving at speed takes more attention, care, skill than doing the speed limit. I wonder if they learn a lesson when they do have an accident?

Have a great day guys.

We have a heat wave up here now, Jim 32 degrees.
I wonder how many "stupid drivers" are learning how to drive by watching movies where the driver turns their eyes off the road to talk to the passenger.
I don't think these new cars with screens help either.

Good morning guys.

No rain yet but it looks like it's ready to start.

No church this morning. My wife is still sick and I've been "exposed" to whatever she has. Not really sick yet (me), just have a small bit of a sore throat and a cough every now and then. I figured I'd protect the "old" people at church this morning and take care of the little stuff my wife needs. I'm trying to do the runs to the kitchen to warm up the coffee, pour more coffee, and anything else she wants.

George, ran across a "sale" on replica weapons. A place called DVOR. I've ordered from them before (gun parts) and not had any issues. The have a couple replica cap and ball revolvers similar to Civil War era handguns on sale. No idea about the quality/reliability of replica weapons but I thought one might fit that old holster you have. Just page down till you see the 1851 revolver or the other one. I also have no idea if either one was used mostly by the north or south. Nor to I have any idea if NY even allows the purchase/shipping of replica guns.

https://www.dvor.com/deals-on-denix-...026-02-10.html

Duke was a little more like himself yesterday afternoon when I went out for the visit. Good to see him bouncing around more. That stub of a tail was really wagging hard/fast.

Have a great day.

Thanks for the link, Jim. Never know what NY is doing, they keep changing regulations on the whims of politicians. I'm going to take the holster to a local gun dealer.
He thinks he can match a pistol to it.

Good morning guys.

Well, today's forecast is now cloudy all day. Several degrees cooler than predicted a couple days ago. We'll have to take it. Still saying the next four days will be sunny and warmer but now they're saying next week won't be as warm as this week. Oh well, by the end of next week it'll be almost next month. The man just said we got 1.29 inches of rain at the airport yesterday. It was just s slow drizzle all day. Never saw it get heavy at all. Should have mostly soaked in.

I think my wife is making the decision to not go help with the hot dog lunch at school today. Yesterday was worse than Saturday, not better. She says she's feeling better this morning. That's usually the way it works. You feel better after resting at night but as the day goes on you get tired and start feeling bad.

Only thing on the calendar today is getting Duke to the vet for his 4 PM appt. He was feeling pretty good again yesterday. Bouncing around with that stub tail wagging like crazy while I was out there. It's like the howling they do when they hear a siren, I don't know who starts it but when I walk out there they go from sleeping/resting here and there to running around, barking at each other, grabbing each other with their mouths and I have to try to calm them down before I go in the pen. Yesterday, for dinner, they got left over chicken meat on hotdog bun sandwiches. To keep it small I tore the buns in to three pieces, put chicken on them and handed them out one at at a time. They enjoyed it. I got Duke's pills stuffed into the bun sections before I put the meat on them. I don't think he noticed.

George, good luck with that holster.

Have a great day.
