Harbor Freight sells a telescoping (bore) gauge set for $18 but of course you will need calipers to gage the gage to get number. Need to check bores bottom mid and at top of ring travel just under ridge to see if tapered or egged. Engine rebuilds have many rabbit holes to go down. Knowing where to stop based on budget, goal and risk can be a crapshoot. Check width of ring grooves on pistons. I've done a couple budget driveway engine overhauls with success but no question there is some risk.
So get a gage set and measure each cylinder and make chart writing down measurements of each in a methodical manner. Once you have all that data you can then figure out next step as far as cylinders go.
