I have a 1985 Bronco that I had the tranny and transfer rebuilt
this past summer. now during the cold weather my indicator is
coming on even when the transfer case in in 2wd. It is not glowin
as brightly as if it was in 4wd which would indicate a bad ground
or switch? How hard is it to obtain this switch and install it on
the transfer case?
When you see it glowing not so brightly, place your hand/hands around the indicator on your dash, to shield it from outside light. My truck, same year. is annoying as hell. If light enters the cab just right, I swear i get all sorts of indicators across the top "glowing" Especially on sunny days. But the cold weather part has me stumped. Thats the only quick tip I have. Anyone else? Im not that familiar with the wiring of the transfer case.
yea, i know what you are refering too BillyBob, and maybe that is the problem. he will have to check. the sun is usually at a lower angle in the winter months and penetrates the side windows more. if not, i would say it sounds like the switch is being finicky. check for fraying wires around the switch that may be grounding out?
I would of said something to that effect, but usually with shorts or even frayed wires, its either on or off. If there isnt enough copper to carry the power then it just breaks, hence no light at all. Unless I am missing something?
