Scanner Code reader
Interested in purchasing a scanner and code reader for the 2013, I prefer doing my own oil changes and engine diagnostics; I do not expect to have to use it that often so appreciate and suggestions on a reliable and not too difficult scanner to learn.
One heck of a learning curve diagnosing and tuning my 65 F100's and the 2013.
Appreciate any suggestions or comments.
Forscan is free and needs a windows laptop to run. A $100 adapter is needed to connect to the vehicle. Forscan is more difficult to use at first but is the most powerful tool on the market....even better that Ford software is some cases.

From what I’ve seen in that discussion, most people suggest going with a simple code reader unless you really need advanced diagnostics, since basic scanners can handle reading and clearing codes without much hassle. Some also recommend Bluetooth adapters paired with mobile apps for convenience, so you can quickly check issues right from your phone instead of setting up more complex equipment. That idea of using your phone as a multi-purpose tool keeps coming up, and it’s interesting how it applies beyond vehicle diagnostics too - for example, services like https://comfax.com/ let you manage documents digitally without extra devices. Using a FAX from iPhone app, you can scan and send paperwork directly from your phone, which is similar in spirit to using mobile apps for truck diagnostics: simple, portable, and efficient when you don’t want to rely on bulky or outdated tools.
