Transmission help
I have a 1995 Bronco XLT 302 4EOD. AT 65 mph the tranny will not stay in overdrive towing a 5 x 12 trailer empty. It seems to me the truck just does not have the power to pull overdrive with the trailer. Does anyone have any info? Ford dealer thinks it should be able to pull empty trailer in overdrive.

i pull a 2000 pound boat and trailer and my 91 e4od stays in overdrive when im going 55 to 60 on fairly level ground. it will downshift to 3rd on hills if i step down a little bit to keeep up speed but on level ground and slight hills it will stay in od.

My 95 XLT 351 will stay in Overdrive when towing empty or not. I frequently need to downshift for acceleration but I have climbed a 7000 ft summit with my motorcycle on the trailer and as long as I was not trying to accelerate, it held the OD.
