Installing XLT upper tail gate panel:

What is the easiest way to install the upper XLT trim panel on a 1973 F100?I need to get it right the first time.I don't want to ruin a perfectly good tail gate!Has anyone been there and done this?

I guess I mis-understood. I never had one, thought it was something in the upper recess.

You mean the big top/upper panel? It mounts with sheet metal screws thru the back side and into brackets that are on the back side of the trim panel. Best way to get it right the 1st time. Is to get the actual measurements from some one with that trim set up, that just happens to have the trim panel removed. I use to have one....I even made a template for a FTE member that I sold one of those panels to. Maybe he still has the template and will see this?
