Temporary Macgyver DIY cab insulation. 1966 F100. Trying to cut down on the Winter drafts until I get around to this section of the truck. 1 roll of bubble foil radiant barrier $19.97, 1 stick of pipe insulation $1.99 , 1 can of spray adhesive $5.49 and some tape. I think it came out fairly decent.
That is intended as a radiant barrier, not as insulation, and will offer you almost no protection against the cold. Reflectix, a popular brand, when glued directly to metal without an air-gap, has an R value of just 1.1, or barely better than nothing.
We use this in our travel trailer year round. Custom fit to all the windows as that is where most of the heat is lost in the winter as the walls are well insulated. It does fairly well when we run the furnace in the winter and helps keep the heat out in the summer. Not sure how much it will help in your truck since the remaining steel and windows aren't insulated and will just absorb the cold.
