i have a 2000 f350 cc psd i want to raise it some but i believe there is already a lift from the previous owner the truck has 35/12.5/16.5 and they dont rub at all is there any way i can determine the lift on it i want to go to a six in lift should i just buy four inch springs and call it a day any info or help would be greatly appreciated thank you
On the passenger side of the front end measure from the top of the axle tube to the frame rail........then post that measurement here and I'll let you know.
counting the springs can't determine the amount of lift unfortunatley... it might be exceptionally hard to actually figure out the current amount of lift..... BUT, if you are not rubbing, you most likely have a 3" or larger lift.
i mostly drive on road some off road to favorite fishing and hunting spots thank to everyone who replied so far i will check out some of the thing you guys asked and reply to all
there is approx 12 inch from framerail to axle tube four pack leaf spring in front they look flat and three inch blocks in the rear the truck is a 4x4 diesel
Well, if there are currently 4 leafs in each of the front leaf packs then they are not stock........stock leaf packs have 2.
Do you have any pics of the front suspension that you could post?
But, yes if you went to a 8" total lift you'd most likely have to lengthen the front shaft, shim the carrier bearing, install new shocks, new trac bar bracket, new pitman arm, and new leaf packs in the rear......and there might be some things I am forgetting.
Originally posted by jmb0077 so if i add 4 inch springs would i have to lengthen drive shafts ect.
ummmmm, no. you can't add like that. what you'll most likely want to do is either buy a spring hanger kit to add to your existing spring setup or buy new springs altogether.
at 8" you'll only need to do the front shaft.... about 100 bucks for labor.... less you don't need any and after 8" you'll also need to do the rear.... other costs usually come into play after 8"
it should cost you between $400 and $1400 to lift your rig up to eight inches (depending on what route you take).... if you pay more, you're probably getting ripped off! (labor excluded)
