Any experience with turbo coolant lines on 2017+ 3.5 Eco?
Hello - I posted the message below on the F150 general forum and should have posted it here. Hoping some fellow DIY'rs can offer some reassembly tips before I reassemble this. So far i have removed the turbo (including plastic supply and charge pipes), the rear coolant line (return), and the return oil line. About to loosen up the AC compressor and move it away from block to allow access to the supply coolant and oil lines. Side note, I am also going to replace cam phasers and oil pan but I plan to reinstall turbo first so don't lose track on how to reassemble everything since I am only able to work on this periodically but hoping to wrap up everything by 12/15. Let me know if there is a reason I should not take this phased approach.
Hello all, my first time asking for advice. Working on my son's 2017 F150 3.5 ecoboost. It has been slowly leaking coolant for a while now. One ford dealer and two indy's could not locate the leak. Now that he is restationed overseas I have taken over the project to fix it and sell it. After removing fender liner and then starter I located the leak. It is coming from the union on the forward coolant line (inlet line?) on the passenger side. I have removed the turbo charger and see that both coolant lines have union couplers. Of all the youtube videos I have seen, none show this two-piece line. I assume the idea is that the two-piece makes for easier disassembly/reassembly? To replace it looks like I should separate each line, bolt both of them to the block and then bolt the other pieces to the turbo. Then very carefully slip the turbo into place by inserting the forward line (inlet?) first and then do the same with the back (return?) line. Sounds easy, but it is a very tight area plus have to keep the exhaust pipe pulled back to allow turbo more room to move into place. Both oil lines appear to be in good condition but I plan to replace as well. It is also noted that I have yet to unbolt the forward oil and coolant line from the block but both look like they are not easily accessible. Anyone have any tips or advise to reassemble lines and turbo?
