Does anyone know what this thing is? I deleted the smog system last year, and I am wondering (hoping) if this is a part of that system that I can remove, or if it's something I need to fix.
I did not feel vacuum when the car was on, from either end of the broken hose. But of course it could be broken somewhere else too, or maybe it's just too small/weak for me to have felt it.
Thanks!
(EDIT: see below for photos - oops)

Reason: oops
These might help. The first one (with the red circle) is of the thingy. The second is of the wiring/hose gang I really hope I don't have to open up to fix this thing.
Yeah, sounds like you have the same problem. I still don't know what the thingy is though, do you?
How far did you have to unwrap to get to a place where you could replace the line? I've actually never bought vacuum line before, anything I needed to replace I could do with a simple hose or a JY part. Can you tell me how you went about fixing this? I mean, I guess you tear that harness back until you see something you can replace, but if you have details from your adventure, I'd love to hear them.
Also, what is this thing? Do I need it? The A/C has been deleted, for example, the smog system too. Maybe it's not needed for me anymore? That would be a lucky break.
On mine, I tore the loom back far enough to slide on a slightly larger piece of flexible tubing. Picked up a variety pack from Amazon labeled for vacuum lines. Pretty cheap and easy to work with. Just be careful as your old line will be rather brittle.
You can find the part on LMC listed as a heater blend door vacuum motor. You should be able to hook up a rubber vacuum hose from it to your vacuum tree to see if it still works. Most likely it will function just fine. It should move your air between the floor and the defrosters.
Just confirming that this was all correct and my blower is now working. I hadn't noticed that it was't. I think I must have busted this after last winter so never used the blower except on defrost. A little Power Steering hose and RTV seems to have patched it up.
