My 97 4X4 pwr stroke has 200,000 plus miles, was running great , recently started shutting down while driving. At first was sort of a miss. Now it just shuts down. After a while it will start and run, then itll shut down.

welcome Cowboy. When you go to restart your truck, do you have a tach? Will it start when it is warm or only after it has cooled off? If you have no Tach, I would say cam position sensor. If it will not start when it is hot I would look at the injector pressure regulator o-rings. duece
Thank you , I dont have a tach, when it stops , it is after running awhile, the truck has always been a cold no statn son of a gun in the morning when its cold, cold being below 50 , but when it shuts down, I mean it quites no miss just shuts off, no tach, and no start, then after sitting a spell it will start and run fine.
So , where can I find this International number for the cps.
On my 1996 Ford F350 about 3 years ago, I had a glow plug relay stick and burn out 3 glow plugs. That was fixed and so was the cold starting problem. Other than the cam sensor, the truck has ran just fine.
I had the same problem on my 96 psd. it turned out to be a bad wire connection on the injection control regulator.(I think thats what it is called) . it's almost under the fuel filter seperator at the front. Start the truck and wiggle the wires. Mine just shut off. the regulator is $200+. I just repalced the connector.
