Morning all,
So I figured out where the clicking noise was coming from - my TC is definately the culprit and is also the cause of the leaky transmission - I didnt put in a new one when I swapped transmissions on taking ownership of the truck.
I see reconditioned ones from reputable vendors for $118 to $600 and then >$600 for new, my question is - are the remanufactured ones pretty much the same regardless of price?

You can inspect the flex plate after removing the shields or the starter
They crack between the bolt holes
Not common but neither is the torque converter failure
You get what you pay for. I would never ever put a converter in any vehicle that cost me $118. That is just a terrible idea. I got a local rebuilder and I get all my clients converters rebuilt from them. I get a fairly good price and it's almost triple that price.

.
More than likely, torque converter is fine. What was wrong with the previous transmission?
The problem could be that the torque converter was not seated correctly into the front pump.
Blew the front seal and probably damaged the front pump.
