Just picked up a 92 F350 7.3 IDI. Has the banks sidewinder dealer installed on it.
For whatever reason they didn't install the banks dipstick tube on the transmission and now I am left with just the filler tube under the truck. Previous owner had the fan come off and take out the cooler lines, now the transmission is slipping and I am thinking is just low on fluid.
Thinking of just making my own short dipstick that goes in the fill tube for now, anyone have a dimension on how far the factory dipstick sticks out of the factory tube? Thinking I can just make a short dipstick with that length going into the fill tube for now.
The banks dipstick tube is simply bent different and uses the oem dipstick. Oh, you don't even have the tube. My bad. You're going to want it. Banks sells all parts in their kits. The trans is a multi thousand dollar unit, I wouldn't mess around.

I am assuming this truck has never had the tube, that or it somehow came out at some point. I am going to go with this flexible one since I don't have the dipstick either and Ill be able to route it where it needs to go. Hopefully the trans is still fine after being open.
