Cowl and hood

So I took my hood off without marking it (which I didn’t know I had to at the time) and took the cowl off to replace my windshield wiper motor and put it back on and the cowl won’t go far enough back for me to adjust and Aline the hood so it closes correctly (1988 for f150 bricknose)

Why would you have assumed that? The hood can be moved forward, backward and side to side. Have you tightened the cowl screws or is it still loose?

Do you have your cowl panel back far enough?
The rear of the cowl sits "under" the lower windshield chrome molding
It can also be adjusted fore and aft

I’ve tighten the cowl down as far back as I can get it . Do I need to take the chrome off the windshield and clean all the dirt and sticks and leaves from under that ?

Maybe? It should slide back in place and then you install the screws. If there was gap between the two then you need to get it under the chrome as was mentioned in post #3
