Rebuilding a np435 transmission. Had some questions/concerns about the reverse gear. Fully disengaged. Has plenty of room Fully engaged. Doesn’t seem like it’s engaged as much as it should be? To the left of the smaller gear on the reverse shaft is some sort of bearing assembly. The gear rides on a bearing and there was another bearing on the outside to the left that was completely self destructed but I didn’t see the point of it being there so I just put it back together as is
This is how it was before I took it apart but something just doesn’t seem right to me. Any thoughts?
Something does not look right to me here. As your pictures are oriented, the collar that is ‘above’ the reverse slider should not be there. I just had mine apart recently, and the reverse slider should be able to move freely between the back of the case and the front casting, along the shaft that it rides on.

When I rebuilt mine a couple years ago, I purchased the NOVAK rebuild kit.
Exact drawings, and step by step method,
All new bearings, input shaft shims (which is very important for end play) end well worth the $$$ I spent.
NOW, some on here had some bad luck with the sencro package they got in the kit BUT I will say I had no problems.

This is something I will likely have to do in the next couple of years, but unfortunately, Novak sows the Ford NP435 Kit as Unavailable.
yeah I had to do some searching to find one and the only one I could find that was available didn’t have the synchros but the old ones looked pretty good so I’m gonna reuse the old ones
Well why not just call Novak and see if they will send you a copy of their instructions.
They were always nice to do bus. with..
Hard to believe they quit selling the 435 kits. To bad..
