Brake pedal is very soft. I notice it does close the pads but have to keep pressing the pedal to the floor and hold them hard to make sure the truck stops.
Would this be a sign of a bad brake master cylinder? No leaks from any lines that I can see. Or would that be something to do with the booster?
It doesn't gain any pressure if I pump it so leads me to believe it's a reservoir. Or if there anything else I should look at?
At this age, if you need, replace the booster and the master at the same time. These are your brakes. I did that a few years back, okay, maybe 8 or 9 years, time goes by fast.
Make sure you don't have a rear wheel cylinder leaking.
No leaks anywhere, haven't bled system just bought the truck not long ago. Although the rear brake line does look newer so possibly never got bled properly.

Problems with the rear brakes can also affect the front brakes, strange as it may seem.
Definitely try bleeding the rear brakes. If no help, make sure the rear brakes are properly adjusted. If still no help, you’ll likely need to do a full system pressure bleed. Lots more details here:
