first a shout out to banks support. while i couldn't find a banks email to tech support i did wait on the phone for a minimum of time and then received the info i needed to identify what i had missed in the start up. just "standard cars and trucks" setting didn't stop the "numbers that disappear in five miles" display. i skipped the step to identify which vehicle i had. didn't see the dropdown. tech found that in about 2 minutes. thx
second, 2016 ford f350 lariat 6.7 diesel drw, banks idash pro data, any suggestions on what readings should be indicated on the first screen and then the following screens?
thx for the help,
s
There are a bunch of threads here on the forum for the iDash, configurations, setups, installs, etc..
Here's a search link to a bunch of them: https://duckduckgo.com/?q=banks+idas...ord-trucks.com The forum search really doesn't help find results that well, so I typically use a search engine and append the "site:xxx.com" switch to the search terms, and it returns just the results for the site provided.
Congrats on getting one, I really enjoy mine. Choosing what options to display are as varied as there are opinions on the forum, lol. Take a peek at some of the forum threads from the search, and you'll find a lot of screenshots of different settings folks use, then choose what best works for your needs...
I don't have the Pro model but I have to imagine the Pro is similar to the Classic. You went through and put your make and engine in there I'd assume. When you do that, from what I remember, Banks has a preset screen with PIDs already on it. You can customize the first screen by choosing what amount of PIDs display (up to 8) and what PIDs display. There are then different categories listed that you choose, then PIDs under each category. You can have up to 8 custom screens set up IIRC.
if you have a model that records....you can record up to 100 PIDs on the classic.....which is good becuase driving around town with displays of 8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1 PID is not very useful since there are no audioable alarms to tell me something happened.....with the record function you can go back in time to compare good number with the numbers during a gremlin chase...giving yo a sense of what could be wrong.
on the display...I display the numbers that scare me the most....fuel rail pressure commanded vs actual, egr commanded vs actual, etc
One thing I learned talking to tech support……When you first start up it asks you engine size, and you have pre-loaded PID’s programmed in to use, but you have to go to ‘Settings’ then ‘Vehicle Selection’ and change from ‘Standard’ to ‘Ford 6.7’. I was not seeing DPF SL, and that was the solution.
thanks for the info guys. exactly what i didn't do, identify the car and engine. didn't see the menu the first time.
i'll check the search settings. the only worry that i really have, though i'm relatively new to diesels, is the cp4 and i do have the fuel rail pressure and the fuel pressure called for. dpk on the table ready to be installed. there's probably other things that are lurking but i suspect ignorance, while being bliss, is not the best method.

Just as an FYI: There's a really cool feature of the iDash that I've used for my Regen trigger notification. Instead of devoting a spot on the display simply for ON or OFF for Regens, I used a background alert. So, whenever I trigger a regen the background alert pops up and then disappears when regen is complete. Very handy. BTW, I used the ForScan app and turned on the display for setting Auto Regeneration on or off for the truck's dash menu.

thanks for the tip. i'll look into it. in a related thought regarding regen, banks has a "stationary regen" setting. but it also has or maybe has a "manual regen". this interests me because i would like to manually initiate a regen when i know i will drive more than 40 miles. any ideas?
I'm not aware of any feature in the iDash that triggers anything, it just reads PIDs. But, that might be a new feature of the latest Pro version, mebbe? I've got the older version, sorry.

the classic version can trigger regens
there is a high/low setting for PIDs ...but all that does is start logging...no audioable's

That’s a pretty handy idea if you’re maxing out the bids. With 5 pages though, I just set up a regen specific page, and since I turn auto regen on and off I know for certain when it is or is not in a regen.
I just don't like to have to switch between pages of PIDs. Everything I deem important to view during normal operation is on one page. I have other pages that I occasionally view, but for daily use I basically just rely on the one page.
As far as knowing when it's in regen, it's fairly obvious with the alert notification. The initial notification is a big yellow box indicating that regen is starting, then shrinks down to a small yellow block at the top of the page during the procedure. When it's complete the large notification block reappears for a moment, then disappears. I can tell at a glance that it's running and when it's completed. You'll have to give it a try to see what I mean. You can always remove the alert, or disable it.
Anyway, it's an available feature worth checking out, IMO. Just thought I'd mention it for those that didn't know about it.

I posted a comment sometime ago on how to perform a manual regen (OCR) on the "Classic..." I'll see if I can find it and repost.
