Hi, I’m able to select my stored stations on either Pandora or Spotify while I’m driving via Apple CarPlay. But if I want to select a different artist from the music library stored on my iPhone, I have to pull over and stop the truck. Has anyone experienced this? How can I get around this problem?
It means you lose voice commands and voice directions from Sync 4. I've done it twice and one time got the KTP crazy screen with weird writing all over. The other time I just lost the voice stuff.
Copy your MP3 or WAV music files to a USB flash drive & plug it into the console port. Then you can choose the USB Flash Drive as one of the radio inputs & select any music contained on it. Also you can use all the usual features like the steering wheel controls for next/last song etc.

Yes, but you still cannot browse your music collection on the move, unless you use voice commands.
