2022 F350 6.7 XLT ~82,000 miles:
We are in Kansas and on our way to Arizona. CEL light came on and it's a P2033 Bank 1 Sensor 2. Tried to reset it and it's a no go with the latest version of Forscan. I did a couple searches and of course no part number. No surprise there. So, would anyone have a part number and exact location on the pipe? I checked the connector and wiring and it's fine. I wished it was that.
Warranty will not cover it, it's emissions, not part of the engine.
I THINK the part number is Motorcraft EGTS-2? $170.22 And, the location is on top and between the DOC and DPF? Can anyone confirm this? Lots of question marks, I know.
I should add that it's completely stock. I tied to reset the code with Forscan and that was a no deal. Disconnected both batteries, code remains.
I can get it in at 8:30 am on Tuesday at dealership if I need to go down that road?
Thanks, I have not experienced a permanent code before. 68 and still learning.
a lot of folks will say I cleared code XXXX but it keeps coming back….thats because it was not a pending code. Last year I was chasing code gremlins for a few weeks and what I learned…odbclink software can see pending and perm codes, I dash can not differentiate, nor can IOS version of forscan light.
a permeate code can only be cleared by pcm once you fix the problem. Not sure if a dealer can clear perm codes.
Thanks, that adds some clarity. I have always used a current licensed version of ForScan on a windows laptop.
I'm going to check the sensor resistance which should be ~150 ohms. Then heat the sensor with a heat gun and the resistance should drop?
Next I will check if 5 volts is getting to the sensor?
Then check if the sensor is seized in the port? If so, I will get my torch out. It will be come out. I have done that many many times.
In the end, the truck is 3 years old with ~82,000 miles. This is the second maintenance requirement. I don't know if that's good or bad?
It turned out to be a wood rat/pack rat. It severed both wires like they were cut. No one locally had a motorcraft sensor in stock and we didn't want to wait. So I purchased one from the dealer for $271.25. Diagnostics, a smoke wrench removal, chase threads and anti-seize install for 195.30 and we are back on the road.
Being an emission code, the code was a permanent one. The dealer did clear it. In the end, for $466.55, it could have been worse. This was EGT bank 1, sensor 2. There are four of them and this is the Ford part number, AC3Z 12B591 C. You will need that if you can get it at a auto parts store?
