I have an 84 F350. Some previous owner put in a 351 replacing the deisel in it. I am about to do some major work to it to get it running again but I dont know if its a Cleveland or a Windsor. There are no stickers on the valve covers or anywhere else. Is there a way to tell which it is before I pull the engine? I would like to start buying the parts before I get it all apart.
One of the easest ways to see the difference is that the W engine
thermostat housing bolts to the front of the intake manifold. the
Clevland enginge bolts straight down on the block.
A Windsor valve cover is the same as a 302.
A Clevland vavle cover is the same as a 351m and 400m
A Windsor's fuel pump bolts are side to side
A Clevland's fuel pump bolts are top and bottom
the waterpump on a windsor bolts to a aluminum cover, if i remember the waterpump on the cleveland is bolted to the block...kinda unsure right yet, also a cleveland has round port heads so the exhaust and intake manifolds kinda reflect its large ports. both have the same engine mount and sml blk trans pattern, just a couple other ideas...i hope you have the cleveland. good luck
Well its now official. I have a Windsor in it. The whole time I was pulling the wiring harness off I never even looked at the thermostat housing. Well I guess for a dollar I still got a good deal!
