Real World DCR Performance

Customer had catastrophic HPFP (CP4) failure and opted for the DCR. The same customer got some bad fuel, massive amounts of water, and the DCR was unaffected.

OK, but what did it do to the injectors? Water can destroy injectors in a heartbeat.

This is from two years ago on one of their test mules... passed with flying colors. Part 1.

One of the guys at work just ordered the S&S DCR for his '17 F350 w/300K. The CP4 failed on his truck....but, strangely enough, it doesn't appear that it contaminated the rest of the fuel system. He should have the DCR later this week, I'll report back with additional info once he gets it installed.

It's rare but they do fail that way. A lifter collapses but doesn't turn and send metal throughout the fuel system. He also needs to make sure none of his injectors are hung open. They need to check the PCV on the pump, if theres rust, fuel injectors should be replaced. Ask me how I know

So, let me get this straight, he spent what, $2K for the DCR, and saved $1000 or so when the rest of the fuel system went boom from water? I really don't see this one as bragging on the DCR, ok, so water got in and it survived, but still wound up having to replace everything after it anyway. I think he should have waited for this water in fuel thing then installed the DCR! LOL

If anything it does prove the DCR is more resilient than the CP4, but not enough to convince me to replace my CP4 with one. Thats like jumping out of a perfectly good airplane just to see if it can actually land itself. As long as my injectors are protected, I will stick with the CP4, when it does fail though, I will put a DCR in. I just don't see any reason to dump another $2K in on a possibility of the CP4 failing as long as a DPK is installed.

Cool video comparing a CP3, a CP4 and the DCR pumps.

They didn't replace any of the injectors. They replaced the drivers side rail with the sensors in it but even that was probably unnecessary.

They also did not replace any injectors, IIRC, in the test truck showcased in the S&S videos after it was running on water logged fuel. The insides of the aftermarket pump filters were even corroded... crazy. He definitely didn't make water burn.
