HI everyone ....is there any manufacturing company out there that is making a bolt on ( easy down tailgate kit ) for the
1973/1979 pick ups ...it would definitely help .. thanks
I believe there is a sort of easy way to adapt the cable and piston rod/hydraulic damper/gas strut to your TG. I seen it done on a 70's Bronco anyway. I am looking for that thread to link for ya, since is has a parts list and some pics.
These kits are widely available from brands like Rough Country, Winunite, and ARANA for many newer truck models, and they typically feature a no-drill, bolt-on installation using existing hardware in about 10 minutes. But with that old school heavy TG, you might have to add 2 dampers.
hey !!!!! any manufacturing companys out there????? watching this post
please build these ....not all of us are in our teens/ 20s / 30s / 40s / 5os.....
I have owned my 77 150 4x4 for forty + years ...4 inch lift 35s ...that
tailgate drops now .....
thanks for listening to my RANT....
That rough country kit looks pretty interesting Rich. I think you’re right that it looks like it would be fairly easy to adapt.
I don’t even know how some of the OE manufacturers do it with hidden dampers inside the pivot. Maybe it’s as simple as coil springs or torsion bars?
