HI,
I recently bought an old 86 F150 for dirt cheap. The problem is that the truck is stuck in 4lo. The guy was pulling someone out of the ditch in 4 lo, gave it a tug and the truck stuck in 4lo. I checked the fluid.....added 3 quarts
hoping this was the problem but its still stuck. Im assuming since there was very little fluid, something became jammed due to lack of lubrication. The transfer case is a NP 208F. Im going to the junkyard tommorrow to buy a replacement but am not sure if its a slip yoke or flange on the rear. I dont know the difference, it has a cone shaped tube with ridges coming off of it to the rear. Help??????
also, does this sound like something that could be easily fixed or am I better off replacing the transfer case? I only paid $300 for the whole truck, so I dont want to put too much money into it.
