New to Ford so this may sound like a silly question. My 2017 Ford F250 Lariat 6.7L wants to increase my idle from like 600 rpms to 1000 rpms automatically.
is it something in the settingsor is this not normal.
When we first purchased this truck in May I was sitting outside the doctors office waiting for my wife. The truck idled fine for 20 minutes then started lugging and blowing smoke.
a week later the fuel pump blew and $12,000 later i got the truck back.
Now I am leery of idling too long. Especially, when she revs up to 1000 rpms.
My 2022 used to sometimes go into regen sitting in a parking lot and that would raise the rpm's. The lugging and blowing smoke you mentioned sounds like is was in regen mode.
Because of that I added the option to stop the auto regen with FORScan so I can do a regen when I want and that would not be sitting in a parking lot.
Having said that I also have an upfitter switch wired up to a high idle circuit so I can raise the idle when parked.
My 2017 never increased the RPMs until a reflash on the PCM was done by the dealer due to an emissions recall. Now it will increase the RPMs after a few minutes of idle. It is a reminder for me to not idle the truck.
