GVW 17000
WB: 172
HP: 149 @ 3600
color: R Red
Production code: 9A773
It was ordered by the owner, it came with a radio, the round one, speakers still between the visors, a Watson 3 spd aux trans and a Sun tach, set up to pull a trailer with vacume brakes and the hand valve is still on the steering colume, the previous owner was told it was ordered with a 312, that would have been a pretty special order as that was a car motor at the time, but I don't know what it is, 292 or 272, picture of both.
Thank you
Aaron
F60 = F600 conventional
R = 272 4V Heavy Duty Ford Y-block. ("All y-blocks become 312s......' at some point.)
6 = Model year 1956
R = San Jose Assembly Plant
22388 = Consecutive unit number
172 = 172 inch wheelbase
149 3600 = 149 Certified Net HP @ 3600 RPM
R = Torch Red
The F series looks like it might have widowmaker wheels. The COE clearly has the split locking ring wheel at LF.
I doubt the factory would have done a 312 even by special order. The HD Y-block is made for the heavier loads of a truck with the sodium cooled valves and I'm not sure what else.
A dealer? Anyone could have swapped one in, but chances are it was the 272 and it may well be a 272 to this day.
All Y blocks are 312's, just like small block Chevys they are all Corvette motors, I was pretty sure it was a 272, the only way to tell is mic the crank.
The 4V would tell em it ha s a4 barrel carb doesn't it, this has a Holley 2 barrel.
The front wheels are the 9.22-5 tubeless with one as a spare in the rack, the others are widow makers and one lock ring, I have 3 more 9.22-5's to make them all tubeless and use the lock ring for a spare.
The cab forward has all lock ring wheels on it now it did have the R 5 widow makers when we got it.
I most likely won't start on this truck till Dec or Jan when I do I'll post pictures and or questions.
Thank you
Aaron
