Hello: My much-loved father passed away 15 years ago. Sitting in my mom’s garage was an F-150 with the Windsor V8. I transported the truck to a garage in Provo, Utah. For fun, they installed a new battery and turned the key and it fired right up. So, they did several maintenance items and inspected everything else. Our intention was to bring the truck to our residence in Reno, NV. My wife drove our main vehicle and I drove the F-150. We drove home, going an average of 75 mph. We consumed both tanks of old gasoline and filled up a couple times on the way home.

We had exactly ZERO problems. I will take it to our local shop for a more detailed inspection, then it will be our “Farm” truck.

Any thoughts on the Windsor V8? Is it reliable? What upgrades would be appropriate? After being garaged for 15 years, I had concerns about driving it all the way to Reno from Provo. All went well.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Mike

302 or 351?
both are good, 351 definitely enter for a truck.

The 8th digit of the vin, shows engine, N=302, H=351, R=351 lightning

congrats, nice truck, pictures of the truck?

2wd, 4wd, my 5.8L has 207,000miles on it, no rebuild yet, leaks more oil than it uses, between oil changes, like wwhite said, PICS!

If it was mine, I would replace both fuel pumps and the coolant pump. When doing the coolant pump, I would prepare myself that it will need a complete front cover. I would expect to have a few seized bolts and have all the tools/tricks ready to tackle that.

Sure, do the fluids and rubber parts while you are there.

A few pics of 1990 F150

Just drove from Provo, UT to Reno, NV after sitting unused in mom’s garage for 15 years. It is a 351 with fewer than 94K miles. It even has a CB radio and two hand-operated spot lights. I hope to get everything ship shape and use it for our ranch truck.
