Fs5306a swap into a 69 c750
Ive found an engine and trans that im planning to swap into my truck, theres nothing wrong with the 391 in it, but the plan was always to go diesel at some point.
only a few things I can see that I'll need to address. The first one is that there is no drum emergency brake on the Eaton trans, I've seen some with one so im guessing its possible. The Clarke 285v trans in the truck currently has one, what is the likelihood it can be transferred over?
also, the slave cylinder is on the passenger side of the transmission, and mine is on the driver's side. Not a big deal unless I try to mount the Ford shifter mechanism onto the Eaton unit. They may be fighting for the same real-estate.
Now the good part, they both have the same mounting boss on the tops of each trans where the shifter mounts. Has anyone tried to bolt the ford shifter unit onto one of these type of transmissions? I can only imagine the stud on the underside of each mechanism is different in some way but otherwise would it be something worth trying?
Any insight into the c series swap would be greatly appreciated.
