Hi, Does anyone know how to shorten the interior light time when i open and close the door. it stays on for at least 30 seconds and at night in a parking lot, its annoying if i let someone out and wait for them. its like i'm on stage or something! 2003 Ford f250 SUPER duty.

First off, welcome!!
I'm a bit confused. Is your truck running when you open the door? The light should go right out when you close it.
Is it the passenger side door that gets opened? It should also go right out.
Is it the driver's side door? If it's running it should go right out, if it is not running, it'll go out when the key is inserted.
Well that is the way it is with mine anyway...
I do not know how to shorten the time but I know how to override the interior lights by adding a switch! I did it to my truck.
Hi Ken, thanks for the welcome!. Yes they go out if the truck is running. But if I turn the engine off, and let someone out, the light stays on! I'm ready to pull the bulb!
I have an '02. Mine stay on for bout 15 seconds or so, helpful at night when ya get in to find the ignition with the key. 30 seconds does seem a bit long though. Maybe someone else can lend advice on a fix. If it's under warranty I'd have the dealer look at it.

This is standard motius operundi!(spelling sucks)!
Here is how it works
The interior lamps will remain illuminated for up to 25 seconds
after all doors have been closed unless the instrument cluster module recieves an input from the following:
Voltage from ignition sw
vehicle speed sensor
keyless entry keypad through vehicle security module
keyless entry from remote transmitter or panic button.
Wish it could be turned off like the seat belt buzzer but no can do!

Can you imagine the "IF" statements that that code must have? Try this the next time you let someone out: Lock the doors and then just sit there with the key out of the ignition. After one minute, the inside door lock buttons won't work. I guess it is to prevent someone from sticking a hanger in and pressing them.

interior lights
When I lock the doors with the remote the lights in question (interior dome light & exterior cab/bed light) turn off on my truck. Sorry, I know this doesn't help your condition, unless of course you have the remote locks. If you do have them and are still having this issue, then you need to see the service shop.
I put a Python alarm on last month. I had passive arming installed. The one dray back, the electrician who installed it said, to passive arming is that the coutdown sequence does not start until all sensors have been turned off (i.e., doors lights, hood,..). this guy is good but he said there is now way to shorten the time it takes until the light shuts off. Of course when i want to arm it right away i just actively arm it w/ the remote. Sorry! I know how you feel.
After the doors are closed, reach over and push the dash dimmer all the way up (manually turn the interior lights on) and then push it back down (manually turn the interior lights off and dim the dash lights to your preference). My interior lights go off immediately when I do this - no delay.

My lights shut off instantly if I shut the door and the doors are locked, 99 SD with manual locks. Stays on if they are unlocked though, thought it was a pretty cool feature
