Drove from the KC area to Milwaukee for a long Labor Day weekend. We scoped out a few antique shops, one was about 15 miles west of our hotel, but we decided to make the trip anyway. Right after entering, I heard a couple guys talking about old fords. One of them started describing his 1975 Viking edition...I remember @John R. Thomas having a Viking edition...it was indeed him. Chatted for a bit about lighting issues and continued shopping. As we were checking out, I mentioned the random encounter to the lady checking us out...and it was John's wife. What are the chances.
That indeed counts as a FTE mini (random) G2G and a pretty cool one at that. That is like a crazy conicidence for sure.
Almost had a FTE G2G with a fellow FTE member while we were both working in Dubai. But Ramadan had the city all crazy every time we tried to link up, so it did not work out.
I did manage to have a FTE mini G2G in Kandarhar Afghanistan with a fellow FTE'er back in 2020. We both were talking on FTE and realized that we just happen to be working on the same base at the same time.
In 2005 Wife and I were touring western Texas, she'ld never seen it. We stopped at a little welcome / info place in Marfa, Tx. Was an elderly lady tending the counter, and she inquired as to where we were from. I started off with we lived in Va., but that I was from Texas and my wife was from Tennessee. She inquired further, I told her San Antonio initially but that we actually lived in Del Rio in the '50s. A few more details, she knew / remembered my mom, her son also stayed at the same house where a local lock smith's wife kept kids for working people as my sister and I while she worked, As soon as we left, I called my mom, she remembered the lady too.
