Do you think unplugging the red/pink wire in this diagram would make it quit?
This diagram is a little old for your year, but maybe some of it is the same.

Well Im not really sure all i know is we found a box type thing with alot of wires coming from it behind the ash tray and up a little it has i know 50 or it looks like 50 wires coming from that we were thinking it was on of them it looks a bit different than the diagram on the link you sent me i can stop it from dinging but i have to pull the fuse and it also stops the speedomator and wipers so i don't do that often .. any more sugestions ? Do a search under "door ajar light on" or "dome light on", the same swithes in the door latch are triggerring your door dinger.

On my 01 Ranger I got tired of the dinger when I had the door open. There is a wire coming from the drivers door that went to ground. I cut it and put a switch in series. Now I can use it or not.

I seem to recall many, many, and many posts about the "dinger" and dome light staying on in 95+ Rangers. I think the fix is to spray some WD40 on the switch and work it around; it seems they are prone to get some rust in them and stick. The cut the wire trick works too. You may want to do a search or look in the Ranger forum for the details.

Dinger

I've got that problem on my '95 F150 and my brother-in-law had it on his '94 F150, and my brother had it on his '96 F250. The dinger is supposed to ding if the key is still in the lock (steering wheel lock) with the engine off and the door open, to remind you not to leave your key in the switch. Sometimes it keeps on dinging with the key removed (or with the motor running, or some other combo). Usually a little twist and/or jiggle of the plastic wing nut on the steering wheel switch will stop it. Sometimes, though, the little twist prevents the key from fully inserting the next time and a "reverse twist" is required to actually use your truck again. When it gets too bad to live with, a new lock assembly is the answer.

Spray the wd-40 into the latch on the back of the door. The switch is inside the latch; there is no button switch that worked fine and gave us no trouble.

If you're hesitant to spray wd-40 because you're not sure exactly where to squirt it, go into the Ranger forum and explain what you're trying to do. I'd expect someone there can fill in the details and if you get real lucky, maybe someone will go take a picture with their finger pointing to the spot.
