TRYING TO CHANGE CURRENT STOCK FOGLIGHT BULBS ON A 2004 F250 SUPER DUTY BUT CANNOT REMOVE THEM FROM THEIR CASING. I'M SURE ITS SIMPLE BUT I NEED A LITTLE HELP.
All you've gotta do is disconnect the plug to the light, reach behind the fog light housing, grab the bulb and rotate it in it's socket to the left (drivers side) of the truck. When I replaced my fogs, they were HARD to turn, but they will come out.
Put the new bulb in, and rotate it to the right (passenger side). Make sure it's properly seated, you should be able to jiggle it and not have it pop out. . .again, mine didn't want to seat the first time, but they will. Plug the light harness back in and you're in business!
I just did this and maybe there is something different on the 04 because it was not as easy as everyone else says it is. There is NO room between the radiator and the plug to get it out. I had to remove the bracket ( 2 bolts on top 1 on the bottom or vice versa? ) and turn the whole assembly over and pull out the socket through the opening next to the liscence plate bracket. It was a bit of a pain but seems to be the easiest way. Maybe there is more room on the older models? Anyway hope this helps?
I replaced the fog light bulbs in my 2004 250SD with PIAA Extreme 9006.
Great set up.
Went from 40watts to 110watts.
PIAA bulbs draw 65watts, no heat issues with the plastic housings. They have been in since 10-27-2003.
To replace the bulbs you need to reach inside the the lower bumper opening and unbolt the lamp assembly.
Two 8mm or10mm bolts, can't remember which.
Once unbolted there will be enough room to turn the lamp housing around to view the rear side.
You will see three small torx head screws, you need to loosen those screws!
Ford made the housing in such a way that the bulbs can only be installed or removed by pulling or pushing the the bulb straight in and out, No twist lock.
Screws act as locks.
