The '68 427 was listed as an option for the Mustang, but none were built. The 390hp hydraulic 427 was installed in the '68 Cougar GTE for a while, and replaced later with the new 428 Cobra Jet when it became available. There were also later 427 service blocks that were drilled for lifter oiling
