I need a new side tank with EEC. The EEC plug is small more or less 1.25" diameter. That measurement is not exact. I just threw it out there to make a point. When I look on Amazon and rockauto, all the images of side tanks with eec show the tanks as having two large sending unit holes instead of one sending unit hole and one small hole for the eec plug. I hate to just believe that is an image error, and then order and maybe get a tank with 2 sending unit holes. Thoughts? The tank below is a Spectra tank as I mentioned.
And here is a rear tank with the correct size and type of hole for the eec.
Yes the top pic metal 2wd tank, looks to have 2 sending unit (?) holes, interesting. I have never seen a EEC valve that big, but I have not seen a EEC valve on a front metal tank either. I have seen the one for the aft tank and that pic is correct.
So Spectra site says F25B has "2 gauge holes". I am guessing one for the sending unit/pick up tube and one for the fuel level ?

Yes that sounded crazy when I was typing it. So the front metal tank should/does normally have a EEC hole on the top. And it is the same size as the rear tank, and your replacememnt tank you are looking at does not right?
I ordered my midship tank from LMC several years ago, and it was correct for my truck, with no evap provisions, and only the same holes which the old tank had.
I could tell that it was made of thinner metal too...
As you guys all know, some of our trucks came with the eec system, some without. Both the front and mid-ship tank without the eec system, have the filler vent hose attachment to the right of the main filler hose attachment. The tanks with the eec have the vent on the left side of the large filler hose attachment. Also, of course, tanks with the eec have a 1 1/4" hole in the top for the eec valve. I guess I could buy from LMC and be nearly sure of getting the correct tank. But I find lmc expensive to begin with, and on top of the price, they charge way too much for shipping.
Well, I'm getting closer! This tank has the correct eec hole, but no filler vent tube attachment!
Having the opposite issue. This is the "valve" pulled from a 79 supercab mid tank. It uses the 2nd gauge hole on top. First time ive seen one and the 2 hole tank it goes to. Nothing online for info. Also that spectra tank looks very similar to mine. Maybe someone is finally making supercab tanks again.

Huh. That explains a lot. Some office worker copied an image from the wrong year, wrong model, and here we are. It is odd how the wrong image spread around the net, from one manufacturer to another.
You know, if good parts are getting so difficult to find, I think I may have to get rid of my truck. It is very aggravating. Anyway, I have two choices about how to proceed with my gas tank situation. I can buy this tank:
for $114, with free delivery, and then soldier in a vent hose fitting. Or...I have a 38 gal tank with a new sending unit. I can dump both my existing tanks and install the 38 gal, and be done with it. I mean, nothing on this truck is oem, so why try to keep the tanks original?
I mean $119 is VERY reasonable. I'd be stock, and able to carry my spare under the tank. Huh.
