Whatever you choose - Spend a little extra on cermaic tint as it will help keep the heat out as well. My .02 anyways.
Shop guy told me today ceramic is over rated. He uses “carbon” tint and the UV and heat rejection is the same on both ceramic and carbon.
Then again, he was pushing what he sells.
I think it's 35% on the front windows that matches the rear privacy and the ceramic definitely deflects the heat and makes a big difference. Driving and parked, the intensity is noticeably less. This is my second truck doing ceramic and it works. I had them put 5% on the sun roof as well and it helps but not nearly as much for obvious reasons. The windshield was not recommended by the shop I went to. The tech said they've had issues with water intrusion on the HUD and a couple of head units failed also from water. Water and modules are bad juju. They had a release they wanted me to sign incase there were issues from water so I decided it wasn't worth it.

Haha. My guy said no tint on moon roof but yes to front windshield.
The moon roof here in Florida is so freaking hot this past 2 weeks. That cloth of a cover they used does nothing to block any type of heat.
I have to aim my air vents straight up to help cool the roof.
That's funny, I guess it all depends on who you talk to. I agree with you that the sun shade does nothing to block the heat, but it does block direct sunlight. I'm in Oregon and thankfully we don't have that intense heat you guys get there. Good luck!

Ceramic tints, utilizing nano-ceramic particles, are superior in blocking heat, making them ideal for hot climates. Carbon tints, while also effective at heat and UV rejection, provide a distinctive matte finish and are often a more budget-friendly option. (Google overview)
3M Crystalline (best) or 3M Ceramic (2nd best). Ceramic has good heat reduction, but the heat reduction with Crystalline is superior and it is noticeable. The tint darkness doesn't make a huge difference in heat reduction going from say 35% to 15%, but does add some. All are 99% UV protected.
For price, Crystalline is about $1200-1400 for 6 windows. Ceramic is about half that.
There are other brands, some may even be better, but you'd have to do your research. I can tell you that you can't go wrong with 3M products tho. Last time, I used the 3M website to find an authorized 3M installer.
I've been through 5 different vehicles now with 3M; 2 with Crystalline and 3 with Ceramic. If it's a new car that I plan on keeping for a while, then Crystalline without question.
I had Llumar ceramic tint put on the front windows on the last SD I had. The tint worked, but it had a weird cloudy appearance under certain lighting......almost like the windows were dirty outside. Other times it was fine.
Still need to get the front windows tinted on the 2023 I've had for going on 2 years now lol. I see more and more people on the road with tinted windshields, talking dark like 35%. It's hard to see using the mirrors backing into dark spaces with the fronts tinted at 35%, I couldn't imagine having the windshield that dark. I'd like to ask about 50-70% or something super light just to try to keep some heat out.
Dropped my truck off today to get the front doors done and PPF the front bumper. Decided on standard tint as every other window and the sunroof has no ceramic so why spend the money.

that shop guy either 1. doesn't know what he's talking about 2. Doesn't have a ceramic option or 3. Both - you should avoid him at all costs.
Did Llumar ceramic.. 50% on windshield and 35% everywhere else. The 50% windshield was a mistake by the installer as it was supposed to be 80% (of different brand).. but I decided to keep the 50% and very happy that I did. It is not too dark at all and works very well at knocking down the glare and impressive heat reduction.
