duel batteries , 1 deep cycle???

Dual batteries , 1 deep cycle???
I have a 85 E-350 ex ambulance set up w/ 2 batteries and a huge alternator. There are switches to power up each battery independently or both at the same time.
I have turned this rig into a RV and my question is if I can put a deep cycle for battery #2 while camping and use #1 for driving? Will it screw up my alternator having to charge two different loads?

I would think that would be a perfect setup. Don't believe you would hurt a thing. You might check the specs on the deep cycle to find out what the max recharge amps are. You can always put a resistor in series to lower them.

No problem with either.
In my world...I can either leave the battery in the trailer or put it under the hood to keep it charged up.
I prefer to leave it in the trailer because, I usually have the fridge on 12V while I'm travelling.
