Hello everyone my 2008 ford e350 van 5.4 has about 278k miles on is runs good burns some oil but when getting on highway and stepping on pedal it seems underpowered like a dog very like it can't just get up and get up to speed fast enough past 55 especially when on the ramp and have to speed up to get over eventually when up to 65 70 it maintains fine but can't seem what is might be I don't like flooring the pedal either shouldn't have too have another van just like in with less miles and doesn't have that problem. Does it need a tune up maybe like new ignition coils plug throttle body work or something else? Has original spak plugs too never changed them? Thanks
I'd suggest you pull the codes for a starting point. It should give you a starting point. If you don't have a code reader, O'Rielly's will check it for you for free.
On another thread you state that the fuel filter was replaced for the first time in 278k miles.
And the truck has 278k miles on the original spark plugs.
Question: Have you ever replaced the air filter? PCV?
yes did air filter have engine light on know autozone dan codes one is for rca traction control system been that way a long time and the other is a code for cylinder 7 misfire? Never did PCV valve.
Probably ought to do some preventative maintenance and then reevaluate the van
Give it a tune up and do a 30 k service. Replace the PCV valve
Complaining of lack of power with a cylinder 7 misfire code means you are running 12.5 percent down from full power
Start there
Just in case
Check the compression on cylinder 7 while you have the plug out
Compare that compression reading with a couple of others you also check for comparison

thank you very much for the advice coils cost about 737 dollars for all 8 coils my thoughts are maybe just replacing coil on number 7 cylinder and see if that makes a difference also replace all 8 cylinder spark plugs with the oem platinum ford plugs and replace the pcv valve as well. What would your reccomendation be and use a oem coil too?

If it's only cylinder 7 (for now) I'd just switch the number 7 coil with another one and see if the miss goes to that cylinder, verifying the coil was the fault. If the truck still misses on 7 then the coil was okay. Meaning I would not buy any coils yet, some go 400k + no problem. You want to check the compression and swap that coil. Then make a decision on what's next. report back, thanks

Okay thanks do you know which is cylinder 7 is looking from the inside of the doghouse?
Unsure about the authenticity of Rock Auto Motorcraft coils. I thought RA was usually pretty good about avoiding counterfeits but, as I said, I bought Bosch.
sounds good thanks does anyone know a good place to order or buy ford motorcraft parts oem not the fake ones on Amazon or Ebay? Thanks need spark plugs and coils.
Air filter? If new plugs and sorting the misfire don't do enough, you might have a tired fuel pump or a clogged exhaust. A scanner with live data capability can help you figure out what's going on. I'd expect ECT to be higher than normal under load with a clogged exhaust and short term fuel trims will indicate adding fuel under load with a tired fuel pump. Maybe you can read fuel rail pressure directly.
