Hot trans tunnel
I was driving my pickup with a camper on the highway the other day and I could feel heat in the trans tunnel, outside temp was probably around 90. I don't remember feeling it in the past even with my camper and towing my car trailer. Pretty much just do that in the summer so I would think I'd have noticed it before if it was ongoing.
With an IR thermometer, it was registering 160ish at the highest right on the shift boot bezel.
I don't have a pyrometer so unsure on EGTs but I was monitoring EOTs and they we're staying 200-210 range for the most part. Seems to me that would rule out the EGTs causing the extra heat?
I didn't crawl under there to check cooler lines, wasn't aware about those until I started searching online about the problem. I was already planning on changing the fluid as it's been about 60k.
What an easy way to check if the cooler is plugged or the pump is shot?
Is there any other cheaper and easier explanation to the heat that I'm not thinking about?
